In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, What is true justice in punishment? For example, if a thief steals a thousand dollars from you, and they put him in prison, what do you get? If the thief has a wife and children, what is their crime? Why should they be deprived of their father? Instead, the system in Submission (Islam) is that the thief must work for you and repay his debt. Contrary to popular belief, the Quran advocates marking the hand of the thief (sufficient public protection and deterrence) and not severing it. The brutal notion of chopping off a hand goes against many Quranic principles: a) The law in Quran 5:38 says to "mark" the hands, not cut off b) It would not be equivalent / just punishment (2:178, 5:45) for a theft c) It removes the option for repentance and reformation provided by God in Quran (5:39) Mathematical Proof Supports Quranic Justice [Quran 5:38 - 40] The thief, male or female, you shall mark their hands* as a punishment for their crime, and to serve as an example from GOD. GOD is Almighty, Most Wise. If one repents after committing this crime, and reforms, GOD redeems him. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful. Do you not know that GOD possesses the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth? He punishes whomever He wills, and forgives whomever He wills. GOD is Omnipotent. *5:38 The practice of cutting off the thief 's hand, as decreed by the false Muslims, is a satanic practice without Quranic basis. Due to the special importance of this example, God has provided mathematical proof in support of marking the hand of the thief, rather than severing it. Verse 12:31 refers to the women who so admired Joseph that they "cut" their hands. Obviously, they did not "cut off" their hands; nobody can. The sum of sura and verse numbers are the same for 5:38 and 12:31, i.e., 43. It is also the will and mercy of God that this mathematical relationship conforms with the Quran's 19-based code. Nineteen verses after 12:31, we see the same word (12:50). More details at: Appendix 37, "Criminal Justice" at http://www.masjidtucson.org/quran/appendices/appendix37.html Peace.
