Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, In today's world many people seem to view marriage as a negative thing, a limiting of freedom, of excitement. On the other hand, some Christians have long had the understanding from the writings of Paul that it is better not to marry, in order to more completely devote oneself to God. However, in Quran, verses 24:32-33, God encourages marriage, even to the extent (in the past) of freeing slaves who wished to marry. Encourage Marriage to Discourage Immorality [Quran 24:32-33] You shall encourage those of you who are single to get married. They may marry the righteous among your male and female servants, if they are poor. GOD will enrich them from His grace. GOD is Bounteous, Knower. Those who cannot afford to get married shall maintain morality until GOD provides for them from His grace. Those among your servants who wish to be freed in order to marry, you shall grant them their wish, once you realize that they are honest. And give them from GOD's money that He has bestowed upon you. ... With God's help, Submitters use marriage to grow their souls including working on killing their egos (Quran 2:54), reigning in selfishness (Quran 4:128) and treating others in the best possible manner (Quran 17:53).
