Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, Fasting during the month of Ramadan helps us be more aware of God. God gives us reminders in the Quran to put growing the soul as a priority over this worldly life. Submitters try to dedicate more time to reading Quran, try to be more appreciative of basics like eating and drinking, and to spend more time remembering God during the day. But what happens as we get into the next month and the month after that? Do we maintain that new level of piety and faith, or do we get complacent and allow ourselves to slack off and let our heightened God-awareness wane? If we find the time to read the Quran for an extra 15 minutes every day during Ramadan, why is it so hard to find that same time a month later? If we remember to commemorate God in the morning and/or the evening during Ramadan, why can't we continue that all year? [Quran 2:152] You shall remember Me, that I may remember you, and be thankful to Me; do not be unappreciative. [Quran 33:41-42] O you who believe, you shall remember GOD frequently.* You shall glorify Him day and night. *33:41-42 Your god is whatever occupies your thoughts most of the time. Hence the commandment to commemorate God and glorify Him day and night. See Appendix 27. The Hereafter [Quran 17:19] As for those who choose the Hereafter as their priority, and work righteousness, while believing, their efforts will be appreciated.
