Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, Ramadan starts in a few days (e.g., May 5 in USA/Canada, May 6 in Europe / Asia / Australia), God willing. As with other religious duties, Fasting during Ramadan (Quran 2:183-187) is a great opportunity for our souls! Some of us grew up learning that we don't know when Ramadan begins until the new moon is physically sighted. The Quran actually made it simple as God says He gave us astronomical knowledge (Quran 2:189, 6:96, 10:5, 17:12, 31:29) to calculate times for fasting, Contact Prayers (Salat), Hajj, etc. God wishes convenience for us, not hardship (Quran 2:185). Praise be to Him! See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS7r8sAJSXE [Quran 10:5] He is the One who rendered the sun radiant, and the moon a light, and He designed its phases that you may learn to count the years and to calculate. GOD did not create all this, except for a specific purpose. He explains the revelations for people who know. [Quran 6:96] At the crack of dawn, He causes the morning to emerge. He made the night still, and He rendered the sun and the moon to serve as calculation devices. Such is the design of the Almighty, the Omniscient.
