In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Peace be upon you,

	Those Who Possess Intelligence
[Quran 3:190] In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for those who possess intelligence.

The alternation of night and day are among God's signs or proofs (Quran 2:164, 3:190, 10:6, etc.). Amazingly, the earth is spinning on its axis at about 1000 miles an hour! Do you feel it? God's perfect design is we are not thrown off. Yet, without this rotation we would have continuous daylight or darkness (or if our day were like that on Venus, it would take 243 earth-days between sunsets). We can only imagine how hot or cold it would be. Also, without the earth spinning, the its magnetic field would be lost and we'd be exposed to extremely harmful cosmic radiation. Life as we know it would cease to exist. And there's nothing us puny humans could do about it. Only God can help us (Quran 28:71-73).

During the month of fasting (Ramadan), we are acutely aware of the alternation of night and day. We can, God willing, use this awareness as an opportunity to appreciate His awesome creation. Praise be to God!
