Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 2:183] O you who believe, fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for those before you, that you may attain salvation. [Quran 2:184] Specific days (are designated for fasting); if one is ill or traveling, an equal number of other days may be substituted. Those who can fast, but with great difficulty, may substitute feeding one poor person for each day of breaking the fast. If one volunteers (more righteous works), it is better. But fasting is the best for you, if you only knew. Ramadan starts next week. Most places begin fasting on 24 April 2020 (a few start on April 23; to verify dates for your city, please see: https://masjidtucson.org/RamadanDates or the links below). Fasting during Ramadan is a gift from God. We get to fulfill one of His commandments and grow our souls. It is a good opportunity to focus more on God and less on this world. Worldly worries do not bring us peace and joy but remembering God does (Quran 13:28). May God bless us with soul-nourishing month of Ramadan. With God's help we are able to glorify Him for guiding us and express our appreciation.
