Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, Last week an asteroid roughly the size of the Empire State Building came perilously close to the earth as it swept by. By God's grace, it missed us. NASA scientists report on the near miss, saying how proud they are of their equipment that can find and track such space debris. We know it's God who controls every single thing in the heavens and the earth. [Quran 34:2] He knows everything that goes into the earth, and everything that comes out of it, and everything that comes down from the sky, and everything that climbs into it. He is the Most Merciful, the Forgiving. Every moment there are billions of pieces of rock floating in space relatively close to earth, from the size of a baseball to the size of a large city. Every day at least one piece enters earth's atmosphere, and by God's design burns up before it can strike. And when, occasionally, one sneaks through, like the one 65 million years ago that killed off the dinosaurs, God is full control of its entry, its speed and its landing. [Quran 20:6] To Him belongs everything in the heavens, and the earth, and everything between them, and everything beneath the ground. We must be appreciative of God's protection in our lives, from keeping us from stubbing our toe on a rock to preventing a giant rock from smashing into earth.
