In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Peace be upon you,

Saturday, February 29, marks an extra day in the year 2020. This happens because our 24 hour day isn't quite in sync with the earth's rotation. So every four years, a day is added in to make up the difference. What that means is that we have an extra day, an extra 24 hours this year to use in the best way possible--the commemoration of God. God tells us to worship Him day and night.

[Quran 7:205] You shall remember your Lord within yourself, publicly, privately, and quietly, day and night; do not be unaware.

[Quran 33:42] You shall glorify Him day and night.

[Quran 76:25] And commemorate the name of your Lord day and night.

It may be difficult to devote an entire 24 hour period to nothing but God (though we try for as much as we possibly can each and every day). So, instead, if we break down a 24 hour day and divide it into the entire year, it comes to about 4 minutes a day. Four minutes, hardly any time at all. If we take four minutes out of every day this year just for the remembrance of God, then at the end of the year, we will have commemorated Him 24 hours! What a gift.

[Quran 21:20] They glorify night and day, without ever tiring.

[Quran 40:55] Therefore, be patient, for GOD's promise is true, and ask forgiveness for your sin, and glorify and praise your Lord night and day.
