Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 3:190] In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for those who possess intelligence. [Quran 25:62] He is the One who designed the night and the day to alternate: a sufficient proof for those who wish to take heed, or to be appreciative. The Quran tells us in many verses that the night and day are among God's proofs. Since we are very aware of the passage of night and day during Ramadan, it may be a good time to reflect on some of these proofs. For example, for any given location on earth on any given day, the sun rise and sun set times are fixed and can be calculated in advance. This matches the expression, "The night and the day never deviate" (Quran 36:40). Can you imagine if we had to wait and watch to see when the sun set (to break our fast) because it varied unpredictably? God tells us that He rolls the night over the day (Quran 39:5). And this seems to happen slowly. But did you know that the earth is "rolling" at about 1000 miles per hour? What is even more amazing is that our spaceship earth is flying around the sun at about 67,000 miles per hour (or 19 miles each second). And yet we can seemingly pause and appreciate a gentle breeze during a warm day or the stillness of a cool night. God be glorified! May God help us be among those who appreciate His proofs and His greatness.
