Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 52:48] You shall steadfastly persevere in carrying out your Lord's command--you are in our eyes--and glorify and praise your Lord when you get up. Since "steadfast" and "persevere" appear together frequently in the Quran, let us try to understand these words. Persevere, according to a dictionary definition, means: Continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success. A dictionary definition of Steadfast: Resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering. Combining these definitions we are reminded to: be resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering, continuing in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success. No matter what happens, we must keep trying to carry out God's commands. Humans are not perfect and we are likely to fail at least once (or maybe more). But we should not give up and remain in a state of failure. We should repent, ask God to forgive us, and "steadfastly persevere" in following God's commands. Let's consider the reminder in 52:48 to glorify and praise God when we get up. Did we remember it this morning? Whether our answer is "yes" or "no", we need to steadfastly persevere to remember to glorify and praise God tomorrow, and each day after. May God forgive us and help us in our efforts to carry out His commands. --- ** Reminder ** --- The annual Submitters conference will be on September 3-5 in Chicago IL, God willing.
