Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, In Sura 113, we seek refuge in God from the evils of darkness as it falls. So, is the darkness of night something bad? It depends on the person. A righteous person may see beauty in a dark night--the stars that fill the sky, making constellations like Orion and the Big Dipper that we can recognize and thank God for. Or phenomenon like the Northern Lights. The quiet of night also provides us time to meditate and commemorate God. God also teaches us that the night and the day are signs for us (Quran 3:190, 17:12, 25:62). Meditation [Quran 17:79] During the night, you shall meditate for extra credit, that your Lord may raise you to an honorable rank. [Quran 50:40] During the night you shall meditate on His name, and after prostrating. Reflection question: How will we use the night?
