Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, How to Deal With Rumors and Unproven Accusations [Quran 24:11] A gang among you produced a big lie. Do not think that it was bad for you; instead, it was good for you. Meanwhile, each one of them has earned his share of the guilt. As for the one who initiated the whole incident, he has incurred a terrible retribution. [24:12] When you heard it, the believing men and the believing women should have had better thoughts about themselves, and should have said, "This is obviously a big lie." Suspicion Is Sinful [Quran 49:12] O you who believe, you shall avoid any suspicion, for even a little bit of suspicion is sinful. You shall not spy on one another, nor shall you backbite one another; this is as abominable as eating the flesh of your dead brother. You certainly abhor this. You shall observe GOD. GOD is Redeemer, Most Merciful. Have you caught yourself indulging in gossip, sharing of rumors or suspicion about people? The Quran reminds us it is not good for our souls (Quran 24:11-1, 49:6, 49:11-12, etc.) and may lead us to commit injustice towards some people (Quran 49:6). May God help us to set a good example by avoiding bad behaviors including ridiculing, suspicion, backbiting or being involved in rumors (Quran 49:11-12). May God forgive our sins and guide us on His path.
