Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 20:14] "I am GOD; there is no other god beside Me. You shall worship Me alone, and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) to remember Me. [Quran 107:4-5] And woe to those who observe the contact prayers (Salat)― who are totally heedless of their prayers. The Contact Prayers (Salat) give us a privilege of directly communicating with God (the word "Salat" comes from the root "Sila" which means connection or contact). What will we do with this opportunity? Will we be distracted or reverent? Will the prayers come from our heart or will we mechanically recite them? In this world we would not be distracted and mechanical when invited to talk to our boss. How much more effort should we put in to talk to the Lord of the entire universe? God is in no need of our prayers. It is we who benefit from remembering God. May God help us be reverent while observing the Contact Prayers (Quran 23:1-2), and not be heedless.
