Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, Absurdity of Idol Worship [Quran 30:28] He cites for you herein an example from among yourselves: Do you ever elevate your servants or subordinates to the level where they rival you, and to the point that you pay them as much allegiance as is being paid to you? We thus explain the revelations for people who understand. In any country or organization, there is one chief. The president tells the secretary what to do, not vice versa. A general does not take orders from a soldier. If a CEO makes a request, we don't prioritize a clerk over him or her. If humans would not give up their power to the extent of making subordinates their partners (Quran 16:71), why do they expect God to do this, and create partners for Himself? Common idols include children (7:190), religious leaders and scholars (9:31), property (18:42), dead saints and prophets (16:20-21, 35:14, & 46:5-6), and the ego (25:43, 45:23). We pray that God helps us be devoted to the religion of strict monotheism. Such is the natural instinct placed into the people by God (Quran 30:30).
