Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 3:51] "GOD is my Lord and your Lord;* you shall worship Him alone. This is the right path." *3:51 This is precisely what Jesus is quoted to say throughout the New Testament. See for example the Gospel of John 20:17, and the book "Jesus: Myths and Message" by Lisa Spray, Ch. 4 (Universal Unity, Fremont, California, 1992). ... "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment." [Matthew 22:37-38] "None of those who call me 'Lord' will enter the kingdom of God, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven." [Matthew 7:21] Each year, over two billion people celebrate Christmas. While some observe it as a religious holiday, others are focused on gifts and festivities. In all of this, what Jesus actually preached is often lost. We learn from the Bible and the Quran that Jesus, son of Mary, and prophet of God, preached the worship of God alone. He gave all glory to God, and taught people to follow God's commandments (John 12:44-50, Matthew 7:21; 22:36-38, Mark 10:17-18, Quran 3:51, 19:36, 43:64, etc.) The best way to respect the legacy of Jesus is to follow what he described as the most important commandment -- to worship God with all our heart (Matthew 22:36-37, Quran 5:117).
