Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, The Importance of Being Appreciative [Quran 14:6] Recall that Moses said to his people, "Remember GOD's blessings upon you. He saved you from Pharaoh's people who inflicted the worst persecution upon you, slaughtering your sons and sparing your daughters. That was an exacting trial from your Lord." Fourth of July was the US Independence Day. John Adams (the second president of the USA) suggested that people should commemorate independence day "... by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. ...". Freedom is indeed a great blessing to appreciate. And our generation has more freedoms than almost any time in the past. For example, most of us never had to endure the slavery and persecution that Moses' people did. We are blessed with freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom to travel, and more. We also have greater safety, provisions, comforts and conveniences, etc. How much more appreciative do we need to be (compared to the people at the time of Moses, for example)? May God help us be appreciative of His blessings including the blessing of freedom.
