Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 35:5] O people, GOD's promise is the truth; therefore, do not be distracted by this lowly life. Do not be diverted from GOD by mere illusions. [Quran 24:36-7] (God's guidance is found) in houses exalted by GOD, for His name is commemorated therein. Glorifying Him therein, day and night― People who are not distracted by business or trade from commemorating GOD; they observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), and give the obligatory charity (Zakat), and they are conscious of the day when the minds and the eyes will be horrified. We live in a world of unlimited distractions and instant gratification. And Satan will try his best to have us wrapped up in this world and forget God. When faced with a choice, what do we pick? Do we hasten to work righteousness? Or do we stay with our phones, computers or TVs "a little longer"? The entertainment gives us the immediate enjoyment of suspense or laughter. While soul-nourishing activities like prayer, meditation or helping others bring long-term rewards. The human being is created weak. But we don't have to stay weak. We can forego the immediate (but illusory) gratification in favor of true (permanent) happiness that comes from God. We can choose to observe God and grow our souls. Reflection question: What will we choose to do today?
