Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 2:185] Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book. Those of you who witness this month shall fast therein. Those who are ill or traveling may substitute the same number of other days. GOD wishes for you convenience, not hardship, that you may fulfill your obligations, and to glorify GOD for guiding you, and to express your appreciation. [Quran 2:172] O you who believe, eat from the good things we provided for you, and be thankful to GOD, if you do worship Him alone. Ramadan gives us new opportunities to remember God and grow our soul. Each fast we observe is food for our soul. And while we fast, we try not to break other commandments so we don't nullify the credit earned from fasting. Each time we are hungry or thirsty, we can ask God to help us through the day and give us strength. We can thank Him for the provisions that await us at sunset, God willing, when we break the fast. We can also be grateful for being able to enjoy food and drink throughout the year. Being able to afford food is a blessing to appreciate because over 800 million people (roughly 10% of the world's population) suffer from hunger (according to the World Health Organization). If we have extra, we can grow our soul by giving to charity. May God help us to successfully complete the month of fasting with a well-nourished soul.
