Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 33:38] ... GOD's command is a sacred duty. [Quran 35:15] O people, you are the ones who need GOD, while GOD is in no need for anyone, the Most Praiseworthy. Luqmãn's Wisdom [Quran 31:12] We have endowed Luqmãn with wisdom: "You shall be appreciative of GOD." Whoever is appreciative is appreciative for his own good. As for those who turn unappreciative, GOD is in no need, Praiseworthy. When we receive money, privileges or kinship in this world, the responsible response is to fulfill our duties in return (e.g., to our country, employer, family, etc.). Both sides in the relationship, and society as a whole, benefits through the reciprocation of services. With God, it is different. God is the source of everything good in this life (including a chance to redeem ourselves). What He asks us to do in return benefits us, not Him. For example, the duty of writing a will (Quran 2:180) benefits our families. When we pray to God, give to charity or strive, it is our souls that benefit (Quran 29:6, 73:20, 108:1-2). God is in no need for our worship, instead He is the One who provides for us (Quran 51:56-57). May God help us be appreciative as we fulfill our religious duties. That is what is best for us in this world and the Hereafter.
