Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 17:11] The human being often prays for something that may hurt him, thinking that he is praying for something good. The human being is impatient. [Quran 42:43] Resorting to patience and forgiveness reflects a true strength of character. [Quran 50:39] Therefore, be patient in the face of their utterances, and praise and glorify your Lord before sunrise, and before sunset. God is the one who created us and He knows us best. God tells us in Quran 17:11 and 21:37 that humans are impatient. Patience is one of our common tests. Think of how many things in life we can get impatient about--traffic, waiting in line, children, other people, etc. When we are impatient, we may feel annoyed, agitated, edgy and frustrated. Do we really want to be this way? Or do we want to react to things with composure, tolerance and self-control? God tells us we can be patient with His help (Quran 16:127). One way to build patience is to remember God is running everything and there is a good reason for everything even if we don't know what it is (Quran 18:60-81). So, the next time we are waiting in line, or we find ourselves becoming impatient while waiting, let us use that precious time to think about God and be appreciative of His uncountable blessings. We can turn a negative trait--impatience--into a positive one--appreciation. Praise God.
