Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 24:22] Those among you who are blessed with resources and wealth shall be charitable towards their relatives, the poor, and those who have immigrated for the sake of GOD. They shall treat them with kindness and tolerance; do you not love to attain GOD's forgiveness? GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful. [Quran 2:263] Kind words and compassion are better than a charity that is followed by insult. GOD is Rich, Clement. Are we kind and tolerant when we give to charity? Do we show compassion towards those in need? Are we reverent of God (Quran 23:60) and do we give solely to please Him (Quran 2:272), recognizing that charity is a prerequisite for righteousness (Quran 3:92)? This doesn't mean giving beyond our ability -- God tells us to give in moderation (Quran 25:67). Charity can be more than the act of giving money. We can examine ourselves so charity also becomes an opportunity to remember God and to actively seek to please Him alone.
