Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 2:183] O you who believe, fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for those before you, that you may attain salvation. [2:184] Specific days (are designated for fasting); if one is ill or traveling, an equal number of other days may be substituted. Those who can fast, but with great difficulty, may substitute feeding one poor person for each day of breaking the fast. If one volunteers (more righteous works), it is better. But fasting is the best for you, if you only knew. Ramadan starts on March 11 this year (for more details including Night of Destiny, please see https://www.masjidtucson.org/submission/practices/ramadan/#dates ). By fasting during Ramadan, in one month, we get to fulfill a major commandment and earn a big gift for our souls. Fasting is a time to renew the focus on our souls and on remembering God. To commemorate and worship. A time to reflect, grow our souls and work on killing our egos, with the goal of attaining everlasting salvation. It's a time to be as righteous as we possibly can be so that we maximize the benefit of the fast. The renewed soul-focus can provide us with joy on our journey to return to God. With less than two weeks to go, what will you do to prepare yourself for Ramadan?
