Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, God Answers the Prayers of "His Servants" [Quran 2:186] When My servants ask you about Me, I am always near. I answer their prayers when they pray to Me. The people shall respond to Me and believe in Me, in order to be guided. [Quran 1:5] You alone we worship; You alone we ask for help. On first reading of the passage about Ramadan in 2:183-187, it may seem that 2:186 is on an unrelated topic. In verse 186 God reassures us that He is always near and answers our prayers. But upon reflection we realize that worshiping and imploring God go together (Quran 1:5). An arrogant person may think he does not need to worship God nor seek God's help (Quran 40:60). We can use the gift of praying to God for help to pass our tests, especially during Ramadan. We can ask Him for help when we feel hungry and thirsty. Or when we find ourselves losing patience because our bodies are weary. Only God can help us with our fasts and make any challenge we face easy. Will we remember to implore God for help today?
