The first pillar of Islam (Submission) is clearly stated in the Quran: “God bears witness that there is no god except He, and so do the angels and those who possess knowledge. He is the absolute god. There is no god except he, the Almighty, the Wise.” [3:18]
The statement “There is no god except He” (in Arabic, La elaaha ella Hoo) is very crucial in one’s submission to God alone since the majority of people fail their test in this life by mentioning the name of Jesus, Muhammad, or other names beside the name of God. They are not satisfied by God alone, and do not perceive their idolatry even if they are reminded. Their insistence in mentioning other names beside God is a sign of disbelief in the Hereafter deep in their hearts. This is a Quranic fact: When God alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who disbelieve in the Hereafter shrink with aversion, but when others are mentioned with Him, they become satisfied.” [39:45 ]
Many Messengers, One Message
All the messengers of God since the time of Adam brought the same message to the people: “There is only one god. You shall not worship except the one God.” The verses given below from different scriptures exemplify this fact very clearly:
One of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he answered them well, asked him, which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him. The first of all commandments is:
“Here, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: This is the first commandment. [Mark 12:28-30]
I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. Thou shalt have none other gods before me. [Deut. 5:6-7]
We did not send any messenger before you except with the inspiration: “There is no god except Me; you shall worship Me alone.” [Quran 21:25]
Even though the message of worshiping God alone is clear in the scriptures, the majority of people who believe in God fall into idol worship (12:106). This is because Satan, who vowed to deceive the human beings, found most of them readily following his suggestions, instead of God’s commandments. He thus diverted multitudes of people from the straight path of God.
As a result of not upholding God’s revelations, and falling into Satan’s trap, the Jews, the Christians, and the Muslims have been deceived away from the true message brought to them by the prophets Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. The majority of Jews today follow such human made teachings as the Mishnah and the Gemarah, instead of upholding the Torah as the only source of religious teachings. The majority of Christians follow the human-made instructions of the Nicene conference that was held more than 300 years after Jesus. During this conference, the blasphemous concept of “Trinity” was formalized.
The majority of Muslims today fell into the same Satanic trap that the Jews and the Christians did. Two hundred years after prophet Muhammad’s death, they started following the teachings falsely attributed to the prophet, instead of upholding the Quran alone. These teachings, which are called Hadith and Sunnah, gradually became an integral part of the religion even though most of them contradict the Quran.
As a result of abandoning God’s revelations in their scriptures in favor of man
