Whenever we’re confused, just take it back to God and to the Quran. God has given us this book full of wisdom. And it has the answers and healing from God that we all need.
[10:57] O people, enlightenment has come to you herein from your Lord, and healing for anything that troubles your hearts, and guidance, and mercy for the believers.
[3:100] O you who believe, if you obey some of those who received the scripture, they will revert you, after having believed, into disbelievers. [3:101] How can you disbelieve, when these revelations of GOD are being recited to you, and His messenger is in your midst? Whoever holds fast to GOD will be guided in the right path. [3:102] O you who believe, you shall observe GOD as He should be observed, and do not die except as Submitters. [3:103] You shall hold fast to the rope of GOD, all of you, and do not be divided. Recall GOD’s blessings upon you—you used to be enemies and He reconciled your hearts. By His grace, you became brethren. You were at the brink of a pit of fire, and He saved you therefrom. GOD thus explains His revelations for you, that you may be guided.
Holding fast to God is important. And God gives us His revelations so that we may do so.
The answers are in the Quran. If we don’t see them, we can pray to God for help and guidance. Someone may come to us and say it’s 4 Salats or some other number. And thank God we can go back to Quran and see that God says 5 Salats (2:238, 11:114, 17:78, & 24:58). And that God says give Zakat on the day of harvest (6:141). And that anonymous charity is better (2:271). We can hold fast to God’s words and know the truth.
Holding fast to God is also connected with the command in 3:103 “do not be divided”. God strengthens us with one another and the support of our family helps us remain steadfast. We can also practice kindness and humility to help strengthen the bonds of spiritual kinship. In His infinite wisdom, God also reminds us to treat each other amicably (17:53), with humility and kindness.
[49:13] O people, we created you from the same male and female, and rendered you distinct peoples and tribes, that you may recognize one another. The best among you in the sight of GOD is the most righteous. GOD is Omniscient, Cognizant.
[52:26] They will say, “We used to be kind and humble among our people.
Almighty God gives us hope and strength by reminding us that He is in full control (10:61) and that if we follow His system, we have nothing to fear nor will we grieve (10:62-64). He tells not to be saddened by people’s utterances (10:65, 73:10). Instead, we can commemorate Him to be happy (20:130, 50:39-40).
[73:9] Lord of the east and the west; there is no other god besides Him. You should choose Him as your advocate. [73:10] And remain steadfast in the face of their utterances, and disregard them in a nice manner.
[20:130] Therefore, be patient in the face of their utterances, and praise and glorify your Lord before sunrise and before sunset. And during the night glorify Him, as well as at both ends of the day, that you may be happy.
In conclusion, let us strive to be among those who: “repent, reform, hold fast to GOD, and devote their religion absolutely to GOD alone” (4:146, 4:175, etc.). Because God assures those who do so that He will bless them with a great recompense (4:146)!
